Keen listeners would have heard us talk about being privileged members of the RCGP Overdiagnosis / Overtreatment email group. So, we are proud to be one of a number of podcasts (Best Science (BS) Medicine https://therapeuticseducation.org/ , TALC TALKS https://consultationskills.com/ , Primary Care Knowledge Boost https://pckb.org/ ), run by members of the group, who are working as a podcast syndicate to publish a new and different podcast called: The Contented Clinician
It started following an interesting discussion about how many clinicians, especially mid-career clinicians, are becoming more and more dissatisfied with their practice – for many reasons – workload, systemic inefficiencies the plethora of guidelines one is supposed to follow, and much more.
So, the podcast invites clinicians to talk about specific topics that are frustrating or worrisome to primary care clinicians and then discusses, with a live audience, tips and suggestions for how listeners may be able to make their practice more rewarding and become more contented, hence the name of the podcast.
It is hosted by Professor James McCormack and Dr Avril Danczak (STC tries to attend as part of the live audience discussion)
James is a Pharmacist and co-host of the Best Science Medicine Podcast and is world renowned for his entertaining take on shared decision making and using evidence-based information and was a guest on the Aural Apothecary in series 3 . https://www.theauralapothecary.com/34-professor-james-mccormack-bohemian-polypharmacy/
Avril Danczak is a highly experienced GP and GP educator from Manchester who also helps run consultation skills training for healthcare professionals https://consultationskills.com/
Topics covered so far include: how clinicians can manage their workload , how clinicians can manage their anxiety about litigation complaints, and the benefits of continuity of care
We hope you find it interesting and informative
